The Brandon Interagency FAS/FAE Committee Inc. is comprised of agencies and community members sharing a common goal of encouraging and supporting activities in the Westman area for effective interventions of FASD.
Including: - Prevention and public education - Provide an avenue for sharing between agencies - Identify gaps and overlap in services - Facilitate and encourage the development of parent / caregiver supports and groups - Create professional development opportunities - Information clearinghouse for the public
Committee members are available for presentations to agencies or organizations as well as a resource to individuals struggling with concerns.
The committee has been involved with the following: - Providing a central resource location at the Brandon Regional Health Centre Library - Middle years school information & awareness kits - Adult resource kit for helpers - Videos & posters - Brandon Directory of Services - Promoting the sharing of information between parents /caregivers through Parent Information sessions - Organizing annual community activities for September 9th National FASD Awareness Day
